We took a bus from Madrid to Granada – a trip lasting about 6 hours, I think. I spent most of the time writing, which is what I often did when we had a bit of downtime, so that trip is kind of a movie fade in my memory. One minute I was typing on a bus in Madrid, and some other minute I was typing on a bus in Granada.

Granada is awesome, and I can definitely see why it's Beth's favorite place in the world. Toledo felt like it was built in a different era (which it was) and hasn't changed much in the last several hundred years. It does its thing and does it very well. But Granada is a fantastic mix of contradictions that, far from clashing or jarring the senses, create something wonderful and sublime.

Grenada had a breathtaking mix of natural beauty and manmade splendor. If you're standing in the right place, you can see sights like the ones above and then turn around and see sights like the one below.
