Also in the wax museum was a sign (above) next to several pictures like the one below. Beth says the caption on this one should be "Fail!"
Practically next door to the wax museum - and, we suspect, under the same ownership - is the Fairy Forest bar, which is about as awesome as you can imagine.
The Fairy Forest is definitely not the only happening place in Barcelona to drink. Observe the exchange listings board of La Bolsa, whose name means "the stock market."
Whenever someone buys a drink, the price of that brand of alcohol goes up. If no one buys more of that brand, the price eventually falls back to its starting point. This interesting gimmick led to the following conversation:
Me: "I think I'll have a Heineken."
Beth: "Okay. I'll have the same."
Me: "No! We have to diversify!"
It took me about five minutes to stop laughing, and I was giggling quietly every couple minutes until we finished our drinks and left. Ultimately, the price of her beer went up, while the price of my beer went down, for a small net gain between the two of us. I've been in this business too long...
We took a day trip out of Barcelona to visit the Surrealism Museum in Figueres. Like most museums, photography wasn't allowed inside, but the facade of the museum gives you a pretty good idea about the nature of the things we found inside. That's right. They're statues of gods getting ready to hurl loaves of bread instead of thunderbolts. It's pretty awesome.
Not that Barcelona has any shortage of weirdness. Behold the Space Cucumber!
